About our Ecuadorian culinary Tours.
Ecuador has many ancient and indigenous groups. Some of these groups bring the local products from their lands to offer a delightful and exquisite large list of special dishes.
Our culinary tours also work as a hands on participating class, this means you can get a local culture exchange while making these delicious dishes. We have listed some destinations below where You can get an opportunity to participate on the food making process. We do not offer only making food activities instead we offer direct cultural experiences.
What I can expect from a food tour and where?
We offer culinary activities on the following tours and destinations:
- At Tsachilas tribe community: Very interesting and different way to cook a meal using some ancient knoledge and local products from the cloud forest habitat. We would prepare «maito». This meal is cooked on the fire using banana leaves, meat or chicken or even fish inside, plus some other local secret spices.
- At Otavalos community: This dish is called «yapingachos» very popular in all the communities in this Andes Region using fresh organic potatoes and some other surprises.
- At Mitad del Mundo (equator): We would select an ecuadorian local dish depending on what we have on our backyard organic orchard and what local community has harvested these days.
- At Quito main base location during your time in Ecuador: We would participate in one or two different food making sessions included one for a local dessert and one main meal. This activity goes from the ingredients shopping phase till you get your dish done on your table.
During all these food making tours we will encourage you to take the excurssions opportunities since each of these locations offers an amazing chance to explore wonderful places.
«You have to taste a culture to understand it».
